We went to Riverside for two-for-one pasta night. The food was delicious, wine fabulous and service impeccable! Not to mention the gorgeous views. It's one of our favorite restaurants in Hood River. You can tell the ingredients are true locally grown great quality. And... Kids went home with doggie bags that we enjoyed for lunch. Love this place.

We were shopping in downtown Hood River and I inquired about dinner. The shopkeeper recommended the Best Western Riverside/Cebu Lounge. I can honestly say the salsiccia dish I ordered was the best dinner I have had all year - and I've been in Florida, Chicago, etc, this year! All six diners with us had an excellent dinner.

I've eaten three meals here in two days, as I've had meetings at the hotel. I had the veggie breakfast bowl two days in a row because it was SO GOOD! Cory and Ryan were my servers and they were awesome! So friendly and the food is just delicious! Try their house made minestrone and kale soup! OMG I can't wait for lunch tomorrow just so I can have it again! Highly recommended and sit on te patio if it's available, because the view is fabulous.

One of our favorite go-to places to eat in town. The menu is reasonably priced, service is consistently great, the food is exceptionally flavorful and the view from the deck makes the overall experience priceless.

Very nice meal with good service and wonderful views. I have no complaints.

Food = 3 stars View = 5 stars Food was about average. Went there for lunch and just standard sandwiches and soups were on the menu. This would be fine if you set your expectations appropriately. The view well makes up for the food. Amazing views of the Columbia river abound. If a sunny day, make sure you sit on the patio! Service was attentive and friendly.

We had dinner here while visiting the Columbia River Gorge. We sat outside on the deck with a beautiful view of the Columbia River. While enjoying our dinner we watched three eagles skimming the river in search of their dinner. The food was good but the service was on the slow side; considering all of waitress and waiters and bus boys running around I would have thought that the service would be better. Extensive wine list and a good choice of beers. Good food, my wife had the kale salad with a big piece of fresh salmon which was very good. I had the grilled shrimp with some very large shrimp which I enjoyed.

Great views and service. My mom and I went there and our waitress was very friendly and nice. The food was average. I will have to try it again, I just had the Riverside burger. My mom had the chicken pasta and she enjoyed it. Generous portions too. Go for the views and service!

Great view, get the table on the deck.... Excellent during summer . Spanish omelet is the best breakfast I have ever had ever since I came to america... The cheese is so fresh and the beef is tasty. This is a little spicy but leaves a good memory. Its not often I give a 5 star rating , but this one deserves it. Beautiful views great food, just the breakfast get away you want.

Service - slow but nice 4* View - amazing 5* Food - 4*, had the tuna melt and it was good but not great, also tried the veggie burger which was the same, good but not great Did have a nice beer selection and waiter was knowledgeable of the various options

Excellent food and picturesque views! Highly recommend. Also loved the hotel accommodation! Nicely done big rooms! Pool and hottub with view of river!

The name says it all. The Columbia river is truly right there next to this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by just how decent the food is here in spite of it being in a Best Western (which really are ok hotels). They had a caesar salad with choice of beef or chicken only. I mentioned we did not eat either but would love a side of prawns instead (as I saw those on the menu). Without a beat she automatically said no problem. The price was the same as the beef or chicken would have been. The prawns were fresh, juicy and were cooked in garlic. There was even slices of cooked garlic. Happy as a prawn was I. I also managed to get a split of champagne to wash it all down with as I watched the river float on by.

This place was excellent. We went for lunch and the views were amazing - it doesn't get much better if you want to view Hood River while you dine! Staff was very friendly and the food was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Roasted Beet Salad with fresh local Sockeye Salmon on top. It was exactly what I wanted and an excellent portion size. Perfectly cooked and obviously fresh. The only reason I docked this place one star is because it's very pricey. $58 bucks for two salads with salmon - NOTHING ELSE? I guess high prices are just a thing in this part of Oregon....?

This is for their breakfast. Hands down best breakfast in town. Veggie quinoa bowl was delicious. Also nice size kids breakfast choices.

At first glance the menu doesn't seem like any special. . but it seems like what they do, they do well. I just had a New York Strip steak and my husband had the salmon special with home made gnocci. Wow, the Gnocci was the best I've had for a long time. Someone knows what they're doing. Also the salmon was perfectly cooked. Not dried out. My steak was okay, nothing to write home about, but it was good. I chose a side salad instead of the Gnocci and gorgonzola, so I had a beet salad. It was a nice side salad portion and it was all beets. The didn't skimp. I guess its not that cheap of a place since our entrees were $30 each, but with the nice view and perfect weather that day, it was worth it. We also had a coconut creme brulee for dessert. It was good. . .not the best, but solid! Service is friendly and attentive. I've been on a restricted grain diet, so when I ate the bread with olive oil, I had a huge smile!

We took a week trip to Oregon and my best meals were at Riverside. We had dinner and breakfast there. The salmon was excellent. And I think the breakfast veggie bowl is one of the best things I've EVER had for breakfast. Seriously, amazing. Oh, and the views.....WOW.

We started out at 4am driving from the Portland area to Madras for business and then to Hood River were we had noon Valentine Reservations at Riverside. Lunch started right at noon, and from my understanding, since they do not overlap breakfast with lunch we could not be seated in the dining area. We arrived early so we had a couple drinks in the bar. The hostess and our server were very friendly. I did not finish my drink in the bar so I took it with me. My husband ordered a beer to go with his lunch. The beer took a while to arrive. I am sure this was because there was only one bartender for the bar area and dining room. We both ordered burgers medium rare, which we stressed so they would still be quite pink in the middle. Even though they came with no pink in the middle, they where still pretty good and juicy. We were asked how everything was and my husband kindly mentioned we did not receive what we ordered but will eat them anyway. It had been a long day for us already and we were quite hungry and did not want to wait another 15 minutes plus .My burger came with a gluten free bun. It was good but the bottom very soggy. The fries were just fries. Only one burger choice on the menu. disappointed there was nothing special about it nor anything to indicate it was Valentines' day. Red flowers on each table? Just a thought. Right on the river with a nice view. Nice draw especially in the summer when they have outdoor seating. In all it was just burger and fries for lunch.. The price was average.. We do want the thank the manager who took a little off our bill because our burgers did not come as we ordered.........if they did, well...possible 5 stars.

The view is very nice (overlooks the river) but breakfast service here was awful! We did a whole lot of waiting for our food while other tables who sat well after us got their food. They offer complimentary breakfast here for the guests of Best Western Plus Hood River. Check out my other review.

Riverside is a beautifully appointed restaurant in the Best Western Hood River Inn. Service is geared to make you feel special but with a casual air so you won't have to dress up too much before going in and you will still feel comfortable. Food presentation is beautifully done. I ordered the Salmon with parmesan crusted asparagus and grilled veggies. It was very good as well as generously proportioned. Hubby ordered Parsley & Pecorino Sausage and Fregula pasta that included broccolini and spinach. His was very savory and delicious. The Columbia River dominates the view and makes this an especially romantic and lovely restaurant.

The view and building is breathtaking. I can safely say the food is equally breathtaking. I had the lobster and shrimp baguette sandwich. Their beers on draft are ice cold, and competitively priced with a nice local selection. Their staff was very attentive, quick on their feet, and helpful. I will most definitely be here again.

another surprise. we came here for two things, the view and the river. we decided if the food was bad the view and river more than made up for it. i mean, how many great restaurants do you know of that's inside a best western? i know! one, riverside in hood river oregon. the 5 stars is for the view, yes, but its also for gracious service and their killer reuben sandwich. can't say much about the salmon burger the wife had but the in house corned beef would shame a few delis and bars i know. the reuben was great because of the corned beef yes, but also because of their kraut that wasn't overly sauer. some are put off with ordering a rueben because the sourness overpowers the sandwich. i'll see some including myself taking out half of the kraut just to temper it down, not necessary with this reuben. riverside doesn't know it or maybe they do but they've got a killer sandwich that they should let people know about. toasted marble rye, corned beef that doesn't taste like brined rubber bands, amazing "half sour" kraut, thousand island dressing that adds a bit of sweetness to the salt and sour, to the creaminess of the swiss, and don't forget a dab of dijon mustard on every bite = a sandwich lovers dream.

Terrific lunch! A friend and I are traveling Lewis and Clark Trail. After reading reviews, decided to have lunch here. She had Tuna let and I had veggie sandwich. Both on terrific focaccia. Luis, our waiter, also super. Location perfect overlooking Columbia River on deck.

I am really surprised that this restaurant is rated as one of the best restaurants in Hood River Mediocre food and service. I rarely write a negative review but I am doing so because the chef needs to go and try other restaurants We had the eggplant dish; pizza; salads and I wish I could say any of them were good. I am only wondering who wrote the positive reviews.

Nice view, but less than mediocre food every family member complained: too much salt, too much pepper, not a good meet in the stake. Stake was rare instead of medium and burned. Very disappointed. Will not recommend and will not come back.

Came here over the weekend for dinner. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about what to expect since it's attached to a Best Western! We dined al fresco on their veranda to take advantage of the warm evening and beautiful view of the Columbia river. They served warm focaccia and olives to start. I had the salmon special which was delicious. My husband had the rib eye and it was tender, juicy and cooked just right. For dessert - the Oreo cookie - so yummy!!! Overall a nice experience!!

We had a great view. I recommend sitting outside. The view of the water and bridge is great. The service was really good. We got both our food and drinks really fast. Along with the other good stuff, the food was great.

Excellent food, great atmosphere, great view of the Columbia river. My wife had the fresh fish (Alaskan Halibut). I had Rib Eye steak. Both dishes were prepared well, and were sizable portions. We also had the Brown Butter scallops appetizer, which were very well prepared. Vegetables were part of all the dishes and prepared excellently. I would highly advise this place.

We stayed in the Best Western for Christmas Eve, and Christmas as we were on a road trip. We were pleasantly surprised that riverside was open during the holiday, and at the food and tap menu in the bar. Breakfast was vouchered for staying in the room, and was excellent! Great coffee and service. Dinner was great too, and cMe with another coupon for 1/2 off(although not valid for Christmas dinner)Again, great service and beer (Abdominal Red Ale from Hop Works). The view is also great! Riverside is correct! The bar is really slick too. Has tons of booze, nice tv's and comfy atmosphere. Can't go wrong here. If I ever stop in Hood River, I'll be eating and having a drink here again!

I remember this place being a lot better. My fish and chips were very oily and soggy in the bottom. Fries were simple frozen poor quality ones but over cooked. Mixed greens side comes with a lot of blue cheese on top(fine if your love blue cheese but a little goes a long ways.) Now the real downside. I could have over looked everything but the really downer was the bar. I order a classic mojito. Everyone knows a mojito-it's probably in the top 5 on most common cocktails worldwide. I paid $8 for glass of tart Lime-aid with minced mint. Not even 2 extra packets of sugar would cut the tartness. The mint should be whole, not minced so that when your drink you not get little mint pieces. I'm a lightweight, so a big 20oz cocktail, I should feel it. Nope. I don't think it had any alcohol in it. It was the worst cocktail I had ever drank. I wish I was over exaggerating.

The view of the Colombia River here is wonderful. Our waiter was "in training", so had a supervisor with him. All went well with that. Husband and I both ordered the special of the day, which was fresh salmon served with fresh vegetables. It was marvelous. The serving size was very generous and the fish was cooked to perfection, as were the vegetables. We couldn't have been happier with our dinner.

I had both breakfast and lunch here today, and I was very pleased with both. For breakfast the staff was very friendly, super attentive, and created a pleasant dining experience. The food was very good. It was hot, made with fresh ingredients, and tasty! The view...of course it's great. Nothing like sitting on the river for a meal. As for lunch, second verse was same as the first!

We were heading up to Foothills Yarn and Fiber (see my review here on Yelp) and rather than eat in town, we decided to eat here because of the view. We were not disappointed. For a day in July it was a little chilly, but we elected to eat out on the deck anyway. I had a hamburger and husband had the turkey melt; both were excellent. Though there were no kite boarders out, we did see a train going by on the Washington side of the river as well as a very long barge heading through the whitecaps. The view of the river and the bridge alone is a real plus. The service was excellent, the food was good, and the view was spectacular. We will definitely be back when we're in the area.

One of us tried the fish of the day which was an excellent piece of salmon cooked poorly (hard and dry on one side, quite rare on the other and over-salted) served over a huge salad (pretty good salad). One tried the "eggplant parmesan" which was huge, oily, served in a steep-sided bowl (very hard to use the fork to cut a bite). The "eggplant" was cut very thin, breaded and fried, resulting in something that seemed to be nothing but the fried breading. There was a lot of tomato sauce, which was good though a little acid. The "parmesan" seemed to be a white powdered salty substance, probably poured from a box. The "mixed greens" salad had a very nice dressing, good gorganzola and walnuts. It was, however, mixed from two types of lettuce. On the good side (maybe): The portions were not merely large, but huge. And the view over the river was very nice indeed. Our guess is that probably they wouldn't ruin steak or burgers. The chocolate torte was very very chocolate, with nuts, and not too sweet (excellent); and the Tillamook ice cream was just what we expected. Add: This restaurant is inside the Best Western Motel, which gave us "free" breakfast there, so we've tried their breakfasts. The biscuit/sausage sandwich was pretty good, though the "white cheddar" was nearly tasteless. One day, the "micro greens" promised by the menu consisted of a few flakes of dried chive. One day they were present. The sausage was a little spicy, also a little greasy. They gave us one without the sausage when we asked, the next time. We also tried a scrambled egg, prosciutto and basil dish which was good. Their "homemade" granola was perfectly acceptable, though I found it a little sweet. The yogurt was "Greek". Most breakfasts are served with country fried potato. It was consistently okay, though nothing to write home about.

The best vegetarian burger EVER taste and texture incl some crunch. Even if you're not vegetarian, this homemade treat is the chef's specialty, and he won't share his recipe. The menu lists the ingredients. White beans, farro, quinoa, almonds, shiitake mushrooms, arugula, basil, all chopped then mixed w chipotle mayo on a whole wheat or gluten free bun at request. I could eat this every day. Hold the organic cheddar on top of burger but if vegan or diet preference. Great and helpful and friendly wait staff. And the view of the Columbia River is beautiful. Good-sized deck for beautiful outside days.

Great place to stop for breakfast on our way home. Friendly service, good food and a spectacular view of the river! Sit on the patio if you can. Extra star for cloth napkins and leaving hot pot of coffee on the table.

Great breakfast! Nice views while enjoying a quality breakfast. Thick cut bacon was good. The omelette with basil and prosciutto was outstanding. The bread they serve for toast is a thick cut 9-grain that tastes freshly made. 10-speed coffee is served in a carafe to each table. Well done!

In general, my rule of thumb is "good view/poor food" and vice verse. And add in caution for a hotel restaurant. However I'd say that rule is broken in the Riverside's case. This has a million dollar view of the Gorge at Hood River. My wife and I had a very good early dinner. The portions were very generous as well. The wait staff was very friendly and capable. They added to our enjoyment of the food and scenery. Seeing that I was doing my Ansel Adams impersonation, our waitress suggested we come back on a clear evening and watch the moon rise over the Washington side of the Gorge. (that's on my list now). If you do nothing other than have cocktails and snacks on the deck over looking the river, I recommend the Riverside. You won't be disappointed.

this is not your typical holiday Inn restaurant. the menu has lots of great ingredients and a ton of gluten-free options. no, it can't compete with top tier restaurants, but the price point is significantly below that class (breakfast in the 10pp and dinner in the 25-30pp range). service was friendly and competent. the wine selection was reasonably priced and of good quality and depth.

  • Stewart B.

We ate here a couple of times during our stay at the Best Western. Our favorites were the King Salmon (freshly caught that day) and the eggplant parmesan. Sitting on the deck was awesome. Right on the river with great views.

Really average food at expensive prices. The waitress dropped garlic clam juice all over my down coat. No accommodation was made on the bill for dry cleaning. Instead they asked me to send them a receipt for dry cleaning and they would reimburse me. I am still waiting.

My family and I chose to dine at Riverside due to other favorable recommendations. I wish we had chosen elsewhere. While the ambiance of being on the Columbia is nice, there were several troubles with our meal. The first thing noticed was a small swarm of insects that decided to fly around our table. The second was the lacking cleanliness of the booth where we were seated. There were cobwebs behind the lighting fixture behind my wife's shoulder. Perhaps the dirty maintenance contributed to the insects. Still, we decided to order. The menu had what appeared to be good choices. I chose one of the highlighted steaks, a 10oz that I requested to be prepared to medium finish. We waited for almost an hour for the three meals to be brought to the table. When I cut into the steak, which had a nice appearance on the surface, I perceived a lacking in firmness of preparation that foretold the rare meat inside. I called the waitress back and showed her the steak. I told her it was a long way from medium. She agreed and returned it the kitchen. When it returned, perhaps ten minutes later, almost no change had occurred. The center was bloody. The manager was called and said they had a new chef doing the steaks. She told me it would not be billed. I agreed heartily. She offered another meal and I told her I did not have another hour to wait. The final problem was the time it took for the waitress to bring the check. I honestly felt we were being ignored. I needed to go to the waitress station to get her attention. Having managed a restaurant in the past, this entire experience was not one I would wish to repeat. The next morning, we spoke with the general manager if the restaurant. She was far more understanding and has offered to "make it right."

We came before Thanksgiving so this place was empty. I wasn't expecting anything phenomenal because it's a restaurant inside of a Best Western... but it had a spectacular view! Too bad it was cold and we couldn't sit outside on the deck. Here's what we ordered: Bread: 4 stars :) it was some kinda focaccia i think House soup: 2 stars Salmon Piccata: 5 stars ... perfectly cooked, seared on the outside and juicy on the inside. perfect perfect perfect! Shrimp & Sausage Pasta: 4 stars... very cheesy and delicious. there was a ton of it too! You could totally share this one. Bourbon Pecan Pie: 5 stars... i posted a pic. this thing is epic and amazing! My bf said he was too stuffed to eat it and he couldn't resist eating his fair share. I'm not sure if the service and food were better since it was a slow season but I was actually impressed. Our rooms came with free daily breakfast from here so we got the breakfast scramble wich came with eggs, breakfast potatoes, toast, a choice of meat (bacon was good!), coffee or tea. I tried the oatmeal but it wasn't as satisfying as the other breakfast choices. Way better than those continental breakfasts served at other hotels.

I have to say after reading the reviews I really expected more out of this place. I know it's a hotel restaurant, and a Best Western at that, but most people seemed to think it was the best place they have ever eaten. Being used to big city choices, I disagree. Our server was trying very hard to stick to her script, to the point that when we asked a question, it seemed like we were interrupting her. And then it took her forever to bring our wine, which was well over the recommended temperature. Yes, it was in the upper 80s outside, but we saw the wine cabinet with a thermostat on it, so why was our wine hot? I ordered the wedge salad which was actually a chopped Romaine salad with blue cheese dressing and bacon, not a wedge. Now I understand that it was described as such, but don't call it a wedge if it's not a wedge and not iceberg. I had the crab cakes which were just ok. Mostly breadcrumbs and not that much crab. Our friends split the ribeye which they said was good (but a 4.00 split plate charge, really? for a 14 ounce ribeye? Who is supposed to eat that by themselves?) My husband had the sausage which he said was just ok. Nice view.

Don't miss this Hood River favorite, popular among locals and hotel guests alike. As a Hood River local, this is my favorite brunch spot. You can't beat the outdoor deck dining in the morning, just beautiful. I also love the dinner menu and can say earnestly that the salmon special Riverside does is the best salmon you can find in any Hood River restaurant.

Food: 3 stars Cost: 3 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars Service: 4 stars Average: 3.75 stars Ok, ok, I know this restaurant is inside a Best Western but don't knock it until you try it. The food was good and familiar, but not spectacular or unique. The cost was fair in my opinion. The service was friendly and spot on and the view was the best in Hood River. Riverside Grill has indoor and outdoor seating and the deck is a wonderful spot to enjoy a meal on a beautiful day. Also, there is ample parking.

Had dinner there tonight. Amazing view, right on the river. Very friendly and attentive wait person. Dining room was cold, wear a sweater. Interesting menu with extensive wine list - mostly Oregon wines. Some good local micro-brews on tap. Three tables that were seated after us got their bread first. The calamari appetizer tasted good at first. Then we noticed that oddly the smaller pieces were tender and the very large pieces were rubbery, and I chewed into some cartilage in one piece. My salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted great. My wife's pasta was good, but salty. Great chocolate cake and very good coffee for dessert.

View. 5 stars, just fantastic, the deck seating is the only way to go. Food 4 stars. Ribeye wonderful, just a tad overcooked. Grilled asparagus was sublime and risotto was very good. Service was great if a little slow. But relaxed. Really a great choice all around and again did Mention the view

I expected a lot more than Cebu, Riverside's lounge, delivered. The location and view were by far the best part of our dinner experience. We ordered the calamari friti as an appetizer and, on a whim, added the mushroom "bruschetta" as a second app. The calamari was flash fried, soggy, and heavily salted. The aioli dipping sauce was mostly mayo and seemed hap-hazardly made. We didn't eat much of the calamari and were relieved when the mushroom and marscapone toast ("bruschetta") arrived. Unfortunately, the "bruschetta" really was just marscapone mushroom toast and didn't have any tomatoes, or mozzarella, anywhere. There were some salted and peppered greens that balanced the dish out, but I would have preferred a more less misleading name for the dish. Perhaps "Sauteed Mushrooms and Marscapone over House Garlic Bread" would have been more fitting. For our final course we had the burger, which was probably the only acceptable dish they served that night. It was cooked to order and their fries were crispy and seasoned (like the rest of their dishes) with sea salt. Their beer selection was mediocre for the location and the service was lack luster... On the whole, I wouldn't go back to Cebu even if I was a local. There are a lot better restaurants in Hood River that are locally run and deserving of your business.

Great food, service and view from this place. Everything for breakfast was fresh and tasty. The prices are more reasonable than you would expect to find at a hotel restaurant. Happy hour here is pretty good as well. Stay away from the pizza, it is not horrible but there but there are much better choices in terms of food quality. Don't miss out on the hard cherry cider if they have it! I am not much of a hard cider person but the cherry tastes like a slice of pie.

Great place for a killer view right on the Gorge. I went here to celebrate my grandpa's 92 nd birthday- I guess they are known for their liver and onions and that's just what he got. I would say the average age in this place was 92 :) I had the fish and chips and they were quite good. Fries were cold so I didn't eat them. Service was excellent food just ok.

This place was a nice surprise. It's in a Best Western Hotel-but the reviews were so good we decided to try it. Well the views were great and the food was too. So glad we went. A couple friends from nearby said it is big secret. The locals like to go here.

  • Jeffrey T.

Not sure how this place got only a two-dollar-sign cost rating on Yelp; the prices were awkwardly jaw-dropping for us. $30 for salmon, $24 for a tiny chicken leg on a dollop of mashed potatoes. The service was pleasant but inattentive; we had trouble getting those final refills on drinks and the check (no peripheral vision). Reminded me of a country club that had gone to seed, a little bit -- a place that used to be nice but had started to struggle of late.

Awesome. I never give 5 stars fyi, no one is perfect, but I would go 4.5 if I knew how! I'm visiting Hood River from Portland with my wife and we are staying at the Best Western. What a hidden gem! I've hit a lot of the restaurants in Portland and this place rocks. The included breakfast, 9 choices, is great. I had the corned beef hash, they make their own corned beef, my wife had the trraditional breakfast, the pepper bacon was thick and peppery and tasty, most if not all ingredients are locally sourced. Last night I had, seriously, one of the best bacon cheeseburgers ever. Local beef, cooked medium like I wanted, stacked high with goodies, yum! My wife had a romaine salad piled with real bacon bits, that were actually still hot! And a pile of calamari with an awesome spicy dipping sauce. We each had a top shelf cocktail and blew out of there for $50. Plus the service was excellent from very nice people.

I stayed one night last weekend. I had dinner and the breakfast - both meals were excellent! I had a salmon dish for dinner which was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Breakfast is included with the room and you get to select from several nice choices. I had the corned beef hash - AWESOME! The bread served with both meals is nothing short of addictive. Hood River has many great restaurants and you should hit as many as you can. But don't miss out on the great food at this place.

The view is the only reason to go this restaurant. I ordered the scallops: there were three surrounding a pile of something I could not identify - it tasted like cream of wheat cereal but was a thicker consistency. (Later found out it was risotto and the waitress said that was the way it was supposed to be - me thinks not!) Husband order cioppino and a very peculiar one it was. Not robust, not spiced. The flavor was gone from the shrimps. Just a bland cioppino. The wait service was good and fast. So go for the view - have a drink and then go eat dinner elsewhere....

Greatly disappointed. We were looking for a place with a good fish and the reviews here were good. The grilled calamari was rubber with a tasteless sauce. Serving it on a bed of lentils made the dish confusing. The veal was tough and the lemon piccata was too lemony - rookie mistake. The cod was undercooked. I pointed this out to the waitress and she immediately took it away to get it fixed, but she mentioned that it was the second time that night. The risotto with which the fish was served was mushy....obvious that the chef did not allow for adequate absorption of the liquid with each addition. And the piece de resistance was that there was either a pebble or uncooked piece of risotto in may dish. We were comped a dessert. The only reason why I give this one star instead of 0 is that the service was very good.

We are staying here in the hotel , so we decided to eat here also. The view from the outside deck is absolutely amazing. We started with the beet salad, and fried calamari, which were both very tasty. Then we each had a different steak , and the meals were very very good. The service was top notch . IMHO I don't think you can get much better than here. We enjoyed it very much.

We love the hotel but have tried the Riverside three times based on Yelp reviews and been consistently disappointed. Calling the service poor would be a compliment. On our first visit in August 2012 the waitress asked if we wanted drinks but couldn't discuss the wine listed on the menu. We said we'd just like to order wine to start rather then drinks but it didn't arrive until after the salad course and one of our party needed to help her pull the cork from the bottle. We ordered the Italian dishes that were said to be a specialty since one of us was second generation Italian. We felt the meals did not meet our expectations based on Yelp reviews but thought maybe this was an exception. Breakfast the next morning was OK but not exceptional. Our next visit was in May 2013 and we were looking for a light meal as we'd had a late lunch at the Trillium Café (great Pub food) and were feeling like we needed to hold back on the calories. We were quickly seated but waited nearly 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us. My wife asked if they were extra busy and the waitress said no in fact it was lighter than usual. Both of us ordered the Cesar with chicken. My wife has a degree in Hotel and Restaurant management and worked in the industry after graduation. She usually settles me down if I'm not happy with a place but she was critical of the Riverside management because she feels the staff is untrained. People at a table across from us had to remind the waitress they had ordered beer with their burgers. People at the table next to us asked for their check then after waiting during the time it took us to eat they had to walk into the kitchen to find the waitress to settle their bill. I don't know what the Chef considers a Cesar but I've never had one like it and that was not saying this was good. The dressing was oily but without flavor. Like Olive Oil with some spices but no egg or lemon juice. The chicken breast came with the bones in and skin on and grilled so that one side was impossible to chew and swallow. After stripping off the edible meat we were left with piles of skin, bones and burned breast that exceeded the edible bits. We still love the hotel and plan to stay here again but we will not be visiting the Riverside again.

If you're exploring the Hood River region i would say this would be a great dining spot for the VIEW. The food was so-so. although my family went when it was just about sundown and slightly drizzling, the view of the bridge and the gorge is really stunning. For dinner i had the Caesar Salad with dressing on the side (don't order this) and the clams with arugula in butter and white wine sauce (pretty good). Is it weird that i enjoyed the sourdough bread they brought out before the meal more than anything else? Anyway, great date spot.. if people come out to hood river for dates....

I stopped here with my 2 little girls ages 6 and 9 for dinner on the way back from a LONG drive. We sat out on the deck over looking the river and the kite surfers. Great view and cozy seating. Our food was tasty and the kids meals were huge.. think adult sized. I had the Salmon cakes off the app menu and it was yummy. The girls had a burger ( hand made) and a pasta with fresh parm. cheese. they loved it all :) FYI they have some YUMMY french fries. So glad I took the time to get out of the car and sit down to eat :)

We heard about this place from another restaurant owner in Camas/Washougal. They were raving about the Fish and Chips and since my mom loves that we had to take her and try it out. We were hesitant - restaurant in the Best Western? Typically not a good pairing . . . but we trusted the review and powered on. We ordered the Fish and Chips - which are halibut and very large pieces. The batter was light and not greasy and they truly lived up to the hype that we heard. The fries - okay. Nothing special but good. Now where they lost a star was the tartar sauce - ewwww. In the words of the hubby "No Bueno". Bummer - they really were doing good. We also tried the Mac and Cheese - HUGE and very cheesy and creamy all at once. Definite winner. The burger with bacon and cheese - was good . . . patty a bit on the mass produced not hand formed side but good. Wouldn't order it again - just nothing to write home about. We sat outside and even though there was a pretty good wind - the building blocked a good portion and we enjoyed the riverfront view. The service was attentive without being overbearing and it was a very nice early dinner. So glad we stopped - when it is time to take Grandma out for Fish and Chips - we will definitely make the trek. Very nicely done. Love to see them tweak their tartar sauce perhaps get creative and offer a couple different versions and see what the public wants.

The meals are great and the drinks are good. It seems a little classy but it is not, more of a casual setting. The menu has great selection and the food is very delious.

I'm not sure if it was the place or the company, but my visit here was exceptional. View was gorgeous, breakfast was delicious, and service was good.

I visited the area in mid-May, for the first time, while attending a family event at the nearby Maryhill Art Museum. I was worried due to it being a Best Western, however this is far from your regular Best Western hotel. The location of the hotel is fantastic! Right on the Columbia river, all rooms come with magnificent views. The rooms are large with comfortable beds, big bathrooms, and decent amenities. We ate dinner at the in-house restaurant and had a great dinner. Again, great views of the river, coupled with a very good menu. The decor is probably 3 stars, but the menu is definitely 4 stars. I had the New York strip steak and it was delicious. I definitely recommend the hotel for.those visiting the area.

We ate at Riverside for breakfast because it is complimentary with your stay at the hotel. We were definitely impressed and it is not your average complimentary hotel breakfast. My husband chose the french toast and I had the yogurt and granola and we both enjoyed our meals, although they were pretty basic. The view is what makes this restaurant stand out. We sat on the deck and it was gorgeous. It definitely gets windy out there, but that is too be expected. Our server was really friendly as well and it was an overall lovely meal!

Tue/Wed, 20-21 October 2009, lunch Flank steak, mashed potatoes/gravy, steamed vegetables, salad, fresh bread. Very tender, flavorful meat. Some of the best mashed potatoes/gravy I've had in a while. I always love fresh, hot sourdough bread. Salad of mixed greens, no iceberg, shredded carrots, vinaigrette. This dish is done very well and would recommend. Prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast, mushroom/fig sauce, steamed vegetables, salad, hot rolls. Chicken was moist. Loved the mushroom/fig sauce. Sweet and flavorful. Salad (same as above, but with ranch dressing). I would also recommend this dish. Wonderful view of the river and bridge. Great service- multiple drink refills. Immediate seating. Much better than your typical Best Western.

This is the best view and nicest place in Hood River. We have been here several times and the service is always fast and friendly. Food is decent, price a tad high. It is a Best Western with a convention center, but has not seemed too crowded on summer weekends. Highly recommend patio dining in nice weather.

The food is good, although not a huge selection. However the view of the river is astounding. Even on a bad day, it's still good. I would recommend to all, that if you are over here, to have a bite at the Grill.

Whenever we drive HwY 84 from the TRI-CITIES, WA through the Columbia Gorge we stop at the Riverside Grill for lunch. We have been there at least three times and never been disappointed! Beautiful view, over looking the Columbia River, excellent and interesting variety of cusine, fairly extensive and reasonably priced wine list.

Don't let the Best Western sign trick you (we almost fell for it). This place had an awesome happy hour. The boyfriend ate a giant burger with bacon and cheese for about $4, and was very content. Same quality as the more expensive places in town, plus you don't have to drive after HH. If you are a guest of the hotel, and book it on BestWestern.com , you get free breakfast each day. This was not your ordinary CB (Continental Breakfast or Crusty Bagel). We had a full on, sit down breakfast with a bunch of good choices and coffee to match. Poached pear anyone? Breakfast burrito and apple sausage, perhaps? Great price for a pretty view of the river and a perfect hotel for relaxing after a day of skiing (or warm weather activities).

French toast for breakfast is a let down order something else. Family faired better with the scrambles. Slow service. $8 for 3 half slices of eggy bread and nothing else. Pretty lame. Go to betties in town better.

Driving home to Portland we stopped here for lunch. A beautiful fall day, we chose to sit on the patio. It is perfect both for sun worshipers and those who like to stay out of the sun. Great triangular sail cloth lets the sun dapple through on the front row closest to the railing and they have tables closer to the windows in the shade. We breathed a collective sigh as we gazed out at the view of the Columbia Gorge. My friend chose a Reuben and I chose a Shrimp and Crab Salad on a Baguette. Yum!!! The servings were huge but I ate the whole sandwich. It had little flecks of cilantro which really made the fish sparkle! Homemade coleslaw was flavored with chipotle chili. The reuben sandwich was devoured also. Our server was very efficient. A great choice for lunch or dinner!

After reading some of the Yelp reviews, I was hesitant to try this out, even with my "buy one entree get the second for 50% off" coupon from the hotel. I thought the menu was imaginative, the food was excellent, the view breathtaking, and the service first-rate. I had the seafood stew special and my husband had the chicken picatta. The portions were large, and everything was cooked to perfection. This was a real gem for a hotel restaurant!

This restaurant is in a Best Western so I did not expect much. The food was pretty good and the view of the river from the deck was nice.I had the Chicken Alla parmigiana which was good. The chicken was tender the pasta was not over cooked and the vegetables still had snap.I had carrot cake for dessert that was not very good. The marion berry pie looked awesome though.I probably would have bumped this place up to 4 stars but the service was a little lacking. 4 people 4 dinners 2 glasses of wine 2 ice teas 3 desserts $106 so it was a pretty good value.

This review is for the restaurant, the Riverside Inn; we did not stay at the motel. The food was very good and prices were low compared to those in Portland. As you would expect in Oregon, particularly in Hood River, the beer selection was also very good. The atmosphere was good inside and excellent outside. The large patio overlooks a great view of the Columbia and the Gorge. The only downside was the mediocre service provided by a small army of young girls, apparently from the surrounding community. Management appears to have opted for many servers rather than training and managing a few. The result was a steady stream of uniformed servers walking back and forth past our table, typically carrying nothing and unaccompanied by customers -- and slow service. Perhaps what Riverside needs for five stars is higher wages to attract older workers who know what they're doing. However, the eye candy was nice and we weren't in a hurry.

We stayed at the hotel and didn't want to drive, so we had dinner on the patio. The view was of course fantastic, and the food was surprisingly good. I started with an excellent caesar salad - plentiful and not over-dressed. For dinner my wife had Chicken Provencale which was very tasty and I had pasta cabonara - also quite good. We did not have dessert but apparently they make them in-house.

The view was amazing and the convenience of eating at the hotel was a necessity after 5 hours of wine tasting. The food, was OK. Nothing terribly special, but it was good and the hotel gave us a discount on both breakfast and lunch. If you plan on wine tasting, you'll likely want to stay here for the convenience of the restaurant or get a cab and explore downtown.

It's an odd place to be a locals hang out, but when the local late night wine bar closes at 8pm...then this is the place to be (according to my friends who live in the area). Service was good and the food was decent. I had their burger and fries, and the calimari was equally good.

Amazing is all I can say. My wife and I were passing through Hood River and stopped for a dinner on the River at the Hood River Inn. We've eaten here many times in year's past and the experience has always been pretty good but this past week when we stopped we noticed a discernable difference. The menu has changed and I have to tell you the food is truly remarkable. We split a grilled calamari appetizer with lentils that was unlike any calamari I have had anywhere, delicate and tasty. My NY Steak was perfectly prepared and served with pasta and spinach that complimented the entree perfectly too. My wife had a Chicken Piccata that was so moist and flavorfull. We were delighted the portion was so large, we enjoyed it for lunch the next day. We're looking forward to our next visit to or through Hood River.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
